The benefit of axiology in everyday life:
• Axiology moves information and new knowledge about everyday life and forming a complete revision to allow us see ourselves, surroundings, environment, and relation among creatures and God through a new way.
• Axiology contributes knowledge and information that are objective and free from any perception.
• Axiology in Islam decides the actions of human under akhlak at any time and place according to the concept of al-amr bil ma'ruf an-nahy 'anil munkar.
What is value?
Value is something to measure man's behaviour. In Islam it is known as knowledge and thinking that brings akhlak and moral. Value includes something that is depicted with a right, wrong or satisfying statement.
Axiology, value science, meets all four of the criteria necessary to be classified as a value:
• It provides a standard of measure, which can be used to make decision.
• It has universal application, regardless of time, place or circumstances.
• It is objective, independent of any one perspective.
• It is quantitative and provides a mathematical means to measure objects or experience against a standard.
What is the source of value?
In Islam, the source of value comes from wahyu, which is:
• Al-Quran al-Karim
Allah says:
"This is the book in it is guidance sure, without doubt to those who fear Allah'
(al-Baqarah:2)
Al-Quran is a holy book that contains every aspects of life. It is appropriate to practice the value that was presented by Allah SWT in Quran in order to devote to Him. A hadith once said, when it is inquired, how was the akhlak of Prophet Muhammad SAW .The answer will be the Quran. It is obvious that Quran is the main source to determine value.
• Sunnah
A Sunnah is everything that comes from prophet Muhammad SAW, whether it was through his performance, words or iqrar. It is a second important source after Quran to explain the contains of Quran itself. Allah says:
"So take what the messenger gives you, and refrain from what He prohibits you."
(surah al-Hasyr : 7)
Hierarchy of value.
Is a value of work/performance that is either been accepted by Allah SWT or not, according to the action of the human himself or herself:
• Ma'ruf
- Fardhu or wajib /compulsory, things that are compulsory and must be done. In other words, do what Allah SWT has commanded and leave what He prohibits. For instance, performing the solat, pilgrimage and zakat while leaving the prohibited things like drinking and gambling.
- Sunat /supererogatory, something that will be awarded with a good reward by Allah SWT if we do it but not an offence if we leave it. For instance, recite Quran.
- Harus/ recommendatory, something that is allowed to any Moslems either to do it or not and will not be awarded with good reward or commit sin or something is offered to the Muslims the choice of whether to do it not. There are no reward or an offence if we do it or not.
• Munkar
- Haram /forbidden, is something that seriously prohibited. It will be a sin to do it but will be awarded with pahala or a good reward to leave it like committing fornication and drinking.
- Makruh /undesirable, is something that against Allah's will, but not a sin to do it and will not be awarded with any pahala to leave it. As example, begins with left right hand during ablutions.
Implementing value in life
In a Moslem's life, he or she will be having several relationships such as a relation with Allah SWT, between human and between nature. Thus, a relationship with Allah begins with obey to His order and abstain to his prohibitions. Whereas, a relationship among human takes akhlak to play its role as a value to human. Human deals with human all the time. By implementing a positive akhlak or mahmudah and avoiding a negative akhlak or mazhummah, will differ the level inside the human himself. A part of that, it is incomplete if responsibility is neglected. In order to be fully devoted to Allah, nature should be treated wisely the way it deserves. The Quran even mention that all the damages occur on the earth is practically caused by human's hand. As the result, human will only deserve to be the ahsana taqwim or the greatest creation as the caliph of Allah SWT when all the relationships that were mentioned earlier complete along the implementation of a good value in them.
Conclusion
Knowledge in life really matters to Islam. The first wahyu that come to prophet Muhammad SAW clearly shows how important how reading is as a link to knowledge. (Ref: surah al-'Alaq: 1). Both personal duty and general duty should be paralleled with the implementation of a good value to guarantee the achievement of sa’adah (happiness) through life, presence and hereafter.
Jauhi segala maksiat kerana ia menjadi antara sebab tentera musuh menjadi kuat dan pertolongan Allah tertahan. Hidup Ni Tak Lama (Wahai Tuhan, ku tak layak ke syurgamu.... namun tak pula aku sanggup ke nerakamu)
